The development of the COVID-19 vaccine has undoubtedly left many of use with questions. To guide and help answer those questions, we have compiled a list of credible resources to help our communities learn more about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Is the vaccine available in my county?

KMBC has complied a list of counties throughout Kansas and Missouri with links to their vaccination information. Below are the counties in both states that KMBC has provided information for. To view the full article from KMBC, click here.

Allen County
As of mid-January, SEK Health Dept did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can find more information from the health dept, their Facebook page, or call them at 620-365-2191.

Anderson County
As of mid-January, SEK Health Dept did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can find more information from the health dept, their Facebook page, or call them at 620-365-2191.

Atchison County
Atchison County has an online vaccine survey form. You can also find more info here or call them at 913-367-5152.

Bourbon County
As of mid-January, SEK Health Dept did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can find more information from the health dept, their Facebook page, or call them at 620-365-2191.

Brown County
Brown County has an online vaccine survey form. You can also find more info here or call them at 785-742-2505.

Doniphan County
Doniphan County does not have an online vaccine survey form as of mid-January. You can find more info here or call them at 785-985-3591.​​​​​​​

Douglas County
Douglas (and Lawrence) Counties have an alert system you can sign up for to receive information about the COVID-19 vaccine. You can also find a FAQ from the county, or call them at 785-843-3060.

Franklin County
If you would like to be put on the COVID-19 vaccination list in Franklin County, please call 785-229-3531. You can find more info here.

Lawrence County
Lawrence (and Douglas) Counties have an alert system you can sign up for to receive information about the COVID-19 vaccine. You can also find a FAQ from the county, or call them at 785-843-3060.

Linn County
Linn County currently has a vaccine interest form for people 65 and older. You can find more info here or call them at 913-352-6640.

Leavenworth County
As of mid-January, Leavenworth County did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can find more info here or call them at 913-250-2000.

Miami County
As of mid-January, Miami County did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can find more info here or call them at 913-294-2431.

Jefferson County
To be added to the Jefferson County vaccine waitlist, call 785-403-0025 and select option #6. If you do not get a live person, please leave only one message and someone will call you back. If you have not received a call back within 24 hours, please call the department again. You can find a FAQ about the county's vaccine rollout here.

Johnson County
As of mid-January, Johnson County, Kan., officials say 80,000 people have signed up for a COVID-19 vaccine through its online form. You can fill out the form if you would like to receive a vaccine.

Woodson County
As of mid-January, SEK Health Dept did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can find more information from the health dept, their Facebook page, or call them at 620-365-2191.

Wyandotte County
The Unified Government Public Health Dept (Wyandotte Co) wants you to fill out this form to say you want a COVID-19 vaccine. If you need to call, dial 311 within the county to learn more. You can find more information on their website.

Atchison County
As of mid-January, Atchison County did not have an online vaccine form. You can find more info here or call them at 660-736-4121.

Andrew County
Andrew County has an online vaccine survey form. You can also find more info here or call them at 816-539-2144.

Bates County
As of mid-January, Bates County did not have an online vaccine form. You can find more info here or call them at 660-679-6108.

Buchanan County

Caldwell County

Dekalb County
As of mid-January, the Tri-County Health Dept is taking calls to reserve COVID-19 vaccines, according to its Facebook page. You can call 660-822-1247.

Daviess County

Harrison County
As of mid-January, Caldwell County did not have an online vaccine form. You can find more info here or call them at 660-425-6324.

Henry County

Jackson County
Jackson County has a vaccine survey form. The health dept will inform you when one is available for your tier group. You can also call 816-404-6416.

Johnson County
JoCo has a vaccine sign-up form. You can also find more info here or call them at 660-747-6121

KCMO Health Department
As of mid-January, 25,000 people have signed up to receive a COVID-19 vaccine via KCMOHD. If you live or work in KCMO, fill out this interest form. If you need to call, you can dial 311 to learn how to receive a vaccine.

Lafayette County
As of mid-January, Lafayette County did not have an online vaccine form. You can find more info here or call them at 660-259-4371.

Linn County
As of mid-January, Linn County did not have an online vaccine survey form. You can call them at 660-258-7251 for more info.

Livingston County
Livingston County has an online vaccine wait list. You can also find more info here or call them at 660-646-5506.

Mercer County
As of Mid-January, Mercer County did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can call 660-748-3630 to find more info and follow updates on their Facebook page.

Nodaway County

Pettis County

Platte County

Ray County
As of Mid-January, Ray County did not have an online vaccine sign-up form. You can call 816-776-5413 to be placed on a wait list if you qualify under certain tiers in Missouri.

Saline County
Saline County has an online vaccine interest form. You can also find more info here or call them at 660-886-3434.

Worth County
As of mid-January, the Tri-County Health Dept is taking calls to reserve COVID-19 vaccines, according to its Facebook page. You can call 660-822-1247.

Where can I learn more information about the safety, effectiveness, cost and availability of the COVID vaccine?

Missouri has created a resource called "Stronger Together" to help answer any and all questions surrounding the vaccine. The website answers questions like "How do I know that a COVID-19 vaccine will be safe?", "What will be the cost of getting vaccinated?" and so much more!

What vaccines are currently being used?

There are two main vaccines currently being distributed throughout the United States, PfizerModerna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson). The table below allows for easy comparison of the three.

Target population

Approved for people aged 16 and older.

Approved for people aged 18 and older.

Vaccine efficacy

95% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 infection.94.1% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 infection.

85.4% effective at preventing severe/critical COVID-19 infection (occurring at least 28 days after vaccine administration).

Administration

Two shots are required, delivered 21 days apart. Each dose contains 30 micrograms of vaccine and is mixed with a diluent before administration.

Two shots are required, delivered 28 days apart. Each dose contains 100 micrograms of vaccine.One shot required. The dose contains 500 micrograms of vaccine.
Storage requirements Must be shipped at -94°F, requires an ultra-cold freezer and dry ice.Must be shipped at -4°F, which is the temperature of a refrigerator freezer.

Must be transported and stored between 36°F and 46°F.
