FOSTER & ADOPTIVE CARE COALITION

Cornerstones of Care Expands Services to St. Louis

In partnership with the St. Louis-based, Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, we have expanded our mental and behavioral health offerings to foster and adoptive families in the St. Louis area. This partnership helps to fill a critical service gap for the families served by Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, which is currently one of the St. Louis area’s largest recruiter of foster and adoptive homes. Foster and adoptive families often face unique challenges due to emotional, mental and/or physical trauma experienced by children in their care. Through this partnership, we bring more intensive mental health services, such as outpatient counseling, to the families served by the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition.

Starting in Spring 2017, families who need additional mental health services will be identified by the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition team, and connected to a Cornerstones of Care therapist for outpatient counseling.

“We are thrilled to tap into Cornerstones of Care’s decades-long experience in trauma-informed care. Our partnership will address concerns that can lead to psychiatric hospitalization or long-term residential placements, with the goal to keep families together.”

—Melanie Scheetz, Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition Executive Director

The Cornerstones of Care – St. Louis office will be co-located in the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition’s Brentwood Office.

“It is the perfect scenario when we can partner with an agency like the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition," said Denise Cross, President and CEO of Cornerstones of Care. "They know programmatic gaps in the community, and we can tailor our services to address those needs."
