VOLUNTEER

Volunteers play a vital role in helping us to achieve our mission. By spending time with our youth, tutors and mentors serve as inspiring role models. Through landscaping and painting projects, community groups enhance our facilities to create comfortable, healing environments for our children. Whether volunteering as an individual or with a group, our volunteer specialist will match you with an opportunity that fits your schedule and interests.

Volunteer Opportunities with Cornerstones of Care

Mentor a Youth

Develop a meaningful one-on-one relationship with one of our youth. Mentors are encouraged to visit the youth they are paired with regularly to provide consistent and reliable support. Common mentor/mentee activities include playing games, playing outside or in the gym, and doing arts and crafts. Mentors must be 21 years of age, submit to a background check and drug screen, attend training and orientation to qualify, and make a six-month commitment.

Special Event Volunteers

Throughout the year, we host a variety of special events. Event volunteers help in a variety of ways — from ticket sales, securing auction items, and event set up to guest check-in and other activities.

Learn more about our events

Birthday Club

Birthday Club volunteers have the opportunity to make a child feel special on their big day by providing birthday gifts or cake to some of our foster care kids.

Campus Companions

Campus Companions are groups of fun-loving volunteers who host weekly game nights (Bingo, board games, movie nights, etc.) for youth in our residential treatment services.

Education Tutors

Volunteers can open doors to improved study skills, helping students become life-long learners. Tutors not only offer academic support but friendship as well. Our most critical need is for tutors to assist current and former foster youth in our YES program. All tutors must be 21 years old, submit to a background check and drug screen, attend training and orientation, and make a six-month commitment.

Facility Volunteers

This volunteer opportunity includes helping our hard-working maintenance and housekeeping team members with various tasks, including work in our storage closets, sorting donations, painting, and washing windows.

Garden/Horticulture Therapy Volunteers

Designed to help children learn important academic, life, and social skills, our horticulture program serves as a calm getaway and therapy space to foster relationships in a natural setting. We invite groups or individuals to work alongside our students on various projects.

Group Volunteers

We welcome groups who would like to assist at one of our events, participate in a workday on campus, host an activity for the children, or sponsor a donation collection. Volunteer opportunities include everything from helping with the installation of a new playground to planning parties to building cottage benches to sorting and wrapping holiday gifts. The opportunities are endless!
