Community Forum Recap
Thank you to those who joined us yesterday for our virtual Forward, Together! Community Forum. The 30-minute forum was a way for us to thank you for your support in 2020, to celebrate with you on the 150-year milestone of our mission, to inform you on our work ahead in 2021 and invite you to be a part of our healing mission for children and families in 2021.

Read our recap blog below to learn more about how you can get involved in 2021!

Join Us in our Mission – Forward, Together!

During our Community Forum, Jen Seyller, Governing Board Member and Chair of our Fundraising Council, highlighted three ways you can join us in our mission as we move forward, together in 2021! Here are steps you can take today and help us keep children safe, families healthy and communities strong:

Share Your Story with Us!

Our work helping children and families in our community started 150-years ago when 20 philanthropic women organized and came to together to address this need. Today, community partners like you, are an important part of not only our history, but in giving hope to children and families for a bright future. As part of our 150-year celebration, we want to hear from you. Share your story on how you became connected to our mission and learn about our proud history through our special Forward, Together! webpage

Connect with Us!

We have a number of upcoming opportunities for you to engage with our mission. Pick the one (or three!) that most interests you.

  • Cornerstones of Care Champions
Join the Cornerstones of Care Champions this Thursday, March 25, at 4:30 p.m., for a virtual happy hour and spring kick off! We’ll discuss the ways Cornerstones of Care is building on our 150 year legacy of supporting youth and families in the Kansas City-area and share some info about our new Champions-led fundraiser with Amigoni Winery (Sips & Sweets, May 7). No need to RSVP, just visit the zoom link Thursday at 4:30 to join us! Check out the Facebook event here.
  • Thyme for Kids Plant Sale
A sure sign of spring, is our annual Thyme for Kids Plant Sale. Shop our online sale from April 14-29 and stock up on plants, flowers and herbs for your home. You may pick up your order curbside for free or have your order delivered to your doorstep for an additional $20 donation. Proceeds from the sale support our Build Trybe program, a vocational and life skills program that empowers youth with employable skills in the culinary, building trades, horticulture and landscaping fields.
  • Volunteer with Us
Join our mission by becoming a volunteer! Become a mentor, help with campus beautification days, holiday gift drives or join one of our Board Committees/Councils. This spring and summer we plan to again allow limited in-person volunteer opportunities on our campuses in Kansas City as well.

Support Us!

As we look ahead to our next 150 years, we need community partners like you to help us continue to respond to the needs of our community with your financial support. Your gift today, of any amount, will help children and families be safe and become healthy. Here are ways your gift makes a difference:

  • $15,000 – honors the 15,000 children and families healing from trauma we help every year.
  • $1,500 – honors the 1,500 licensed foster families who open their homes and hearts to children in crisis.
  • $750 – honors the 750 Cornerstones of Care team members who show up every day to keep children safe and families together.
  • $150 – honors the 150 years of our mission evolving to meet the needs of children and families.

Our work has depended on community supporters like you, since day one. Today, we ask you to step FORWARD, TOGETHER as part of a meaningful legacy committed to improving safety and health for children and families.
